VANCOUVER - With over 105,000 people attending the event this year, the 13th Annual Bright Nights in Stanley Park, a joint event of the BCPFF Burn Fund and the Vancouver Park Board, raised over $201,093.00 for the Burn Fund and its programs.
"We are exceptionally pleased with the support of the public and our sponsors. Over 560 fire fighters contribute more than 8,000 hours over the 3 month period of Set-Up, Operations and Tear Down so it is a monumental undertaking of combined efforts to make this event successful," said Ray Boucher, Burn Fund Director and Chair of the Bright Nights Committee. "The funds raised will make a huge difference to burn survivors and their families in our province."
Vancouver Park Board Chair Aaron Jasper presented a cheque for $92,866.82 at the April 18th Park Board Meeting to Ray Boucher. The cheque represents the Burn Fund's share of train admission revenues for the popular annual Bright Nights in Stanley Park event that runs every December. Including other donations received by the Burn Fund, this year's event raised a total of $201,093.91 which will greatly benefit the programs that support the Burn Survivors of British Columbia.
The monies raised go directly to the Burn Fund, which provides life saving, life supporting and life enriching services to the people in BC. More than 3,800 professional fire fighters around the province are building the Burn Fund's vision. They dedicate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public's knowledge about fire and burn safety issues through the work the Burn Fund does with its Burn Awareness, Research and Prevention programs.
