For everything you ever wanted to know about reptiles, the Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo is for you

MISSISSAUGA - People who professed a love and admiration for snakes and other reptiles were once upon a time seen as freaks or Goth.

No more. While the reptile industry has been looked at as a very niche market, this perception is changing, and reptiles are being adopted by mainstream society in a big way. Doesn't a gecko do TV ads for an insurance company?

Like most animal industries, there is a growing demand for luxury designer reptiles, the most common today being snakes. Many snakes can now be found in various colour and pattern variations, ranging in price from $50 up to (and over) $100,000.

Snakes provide a happy middle ground between a dog or cat and a fish, combining low maintenance and small space requirements, with an animal that can be played with and become part of the family.

If you have any interest in designer luxury snakes or other reptiles, then this upcoming event is something you can't miss.

It's the 3rd Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo taking place at the International Centre in Mississauga. Herpetoculture specialists from coast to coast, the USA and overseas will be offering their services and products associated with reptiles and other exotic pets.

With 75,000 sq. ft. of sensational snakes and remarkable reptiles, over 200 vendors will be eager to offer their expertise to the fast-growing and educated Canadian market.

And for all you snake-lovers, be sure to visit the "Wall of Breeders".

Sponsored by GTA-based Ricky's Reptile Enclosures Inc., this will be a display of the best of the best. Several Canadian top snake breeders will be showcasing various snake breeds in an art gallery setting for all to see. Visit Ricky's Reptile Enclosures for more information.

Whether you're seriously considering owning reptile, or simply curious, the Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo will be a one-stop shop to finding herpeto happiness.

BTW, herpetology is the branch of zoology that deals with reptiles and amphibians.
