Now that bringing home a Stanley Cup Champion is out of the way, the contest to watch now will take place live on Rogers Sportsnet on Sunday, May 29th at the Memorial Cup in Mississauga. Didn't hear about the contest? Well, you had to buy a bag of Old Dutch potato chips. Apparently 40,000 others did and entered for a chance to Net a Million.
Bring on the old-fashioned, tried and true hockey shootout. 3 contestants, second intermission of the game. Who are the lucky ones? Representing the WHL - Glenn Brost from Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Repping the OHL - William Hammerstrom from Newcastle, Ontario. And wearing the QMJHL jersey - Louise Thompson from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
The shooting positions will be randomly chosen just before the contestants hit the ice. The first contestant will play for $100,000, shooting from the closest blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 20 seconds. The second contestant will play for $250,000, shooting from centre ice, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 22 seconds. The third contestant will play for $1,000,000, shooting from the far blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 24 seconds.
Sounds easy....
If the contestants don't make the minimum 16 goals, they'll get $500 for each goal scored, in addition to a $5,000 gift card for The Brick. Now, provided that none of the contestants miss the net completely, that's still $500-$7,500 up for grabs. That's a good return on a bag of chips investment.
Old Dutch also awarded an additional trip for two to one lucky Facebook fan to attend the final game and step in if any of the contestants cannot participate in the on-ice challenge. That's some dude named Scott from Grimsby, Ontario.
Hockey fans are invited to join the conversation at facebook.com/netamillion and cheer on the contests trying to Net a Million.
