Picinote™: Siamese Systems' new mobile app is a marriage of camera, note-taking, and sharing

TORONTO – Siamese Systems Inc., a mobile application start-up based out of Toronto, is slated to release its first productivity app for the Blackberry Playbook. They have coined the application Picinote™, and it hits Blackberry’s Tablet App World today, Thursday, December 8th, 2011.

Picinote is a cutting-edge productivity application that unites 3 core tools: the camera, powerful note-taking capabilities, and the ‘cloud’. Siamese Systems placed great emphasis on information collaboration, and ‘out of the box’, offers their clients the ability to save pages and what they have branded as “Picibooks” into PDF’s ready for email and Facebook upload. The team at Siamese Systems is already knee deep on the next evolution of this ‘cloud’ and looking to quickly introduce direct linkages to Dropbox, Google Docs, and Twitter.

To many people’s surprise, Siamese Systems Inc. decided to launch exclusively on the Playbook. With RIM’s sales underperforming, and the Playbook shipments below analyst’s forecasts, it was a highly strategic decision for Siamese Systems to release on this platform as opposed to rapidly growing shipments seen on the Apple and Android platforms.

“We saw the potential for building brand awareness in a space where application development is sluggish and lacking high quality apps like Picinote. The white space was just too great for us to overlook, and our ability to shine is eminent,” said co-founder Alex Kottoor. “At product conception, the ‘professional’ was our primary demographic which made the Blackberry a logical go-to market strategy. This evolved over time and ‘fun’ctions like Facebook were important so that the everyday ‘professional’ could use Picinote for some fun too. After all, the beauty of tablet technology is most powerful when it integrates both work and play.”

Multi-app dependency in the note-taking and productivity space is certainly evident. Many tablet users buy several apps to do what Picinote is able to do under ‘one roof’.

“We are excited for the future of our app and you can certainly expect to see Picinote cross platform in the next 3-5 months. We have set very aggressive timelines on development and we expect to meet these projections,” said Adrian Bubalo, co-founder of Siamese Systems Inc.

Siamese Systems is committed to supporting their application and sees their clients as the focal point and driver to future development. “At the end of it all, we need our clients to provide us direction on what they need in order to stay productive and ahead of the curve.”
