The FIRST Canadian Yukigassen Championships
EDMONTON - A few days ago, my son told me he got in trouble at school for throwing snow in the air. His words: "Teachers suck the life out of being a kid." He's going to laugh when he hears about Yukigassen.
Yukigassen. An organized snowball fight for BIG kids. 7 players on each team. Win by pelting the opposing team with snowballs or capture their flag. So very Canadian, but we do have to give our Japanese friends the credit.
No matter. Mark March 4-6, 2011 on your calendars and make your way to Fort Edmonton Park for the 1st (hopefully annual) Canadian Yukigassen Championships. Go to www.snowbattle.ca for all the information you need. Watch the battles, register a team, or volunteer.
